Thornbury Castle retains 3 AA Rosettes & 4 Red Stars!
Thornbury Castle, a stunning 16th-century castle hotel in Gloucestershire, has recently retained its 3 AA Rosettes for food quality and 4 Red Stars for service quality and operation of the hotel. The AA Rosette Award, first awarded in 1956, was the first nationwide scheme for assessing the quality of food served by restaurants and hotels. The team of inspectors have an unrivalled wealth of experience in assessing quality throughout the UK so receiving an award is a huge achievement.
Thornbury Castle, a Relais & Chateaux Hotel, is the only Tudor Castle in England to be open as a hotel. King Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn slept in one of the 26 bedchambers and walked through the ancient gardens.
Led by Executive Head Chef, David Campbell, Thornbury Castle offers diners an indulgent experience in a relaxed setting with the finest interiors. Guests can choose from a wide range of delicious and impressive menus including a 6-course tasting menu, A la Carte menu, Afternoon Tea, and Lounge menu. The hotel proudly grows a lot of its produce in its Kitchen Garden including Tudor botanicas over many centuries. The Head Gardener ensures that the chefs can work with the finest and freshest ingredients imaginable.
Gordon Riddell, General Manager of Thornbury Castle said: “We’re delighted to have retained our 3 AA Rosettes for culinary excellence and 4 Red Stars at Thornbury Castle for the second year running. Being credited with these prestigious awards are testament to our brilliant team who work incredibly hard to produce a first-class customer experience. To achieve these coveted accolades is a great privilege”.
A hotel awarded Red Stars is regarded as one of the best hotels in the British Isles, offering excellent levels of quality throughout, and outstanding levels of hospitality and service. Currently, there are only 132 hotels in the entire British Isles that have AA red star status ranging from 3 to 5 stars. Outstanding restaurants that achieve AA Rosettes demand recognition well beyond their local area. The cooking is underpinned by the selection and sympathetic treatment of the highest quality ingredients. Timing, seasoning and judgment of flavour combinations will be consistently excellent. Only around 10% of restaurants/hotels within the AA Restaurant Guide have three Rosettes and above.
Bedchamber rates at Thornbury Castle start from £299. For dinner, three courses from the A-la-Carte menu costs £75. For more information about Thornbury Castle please visit Thornbury Castle
