SushiSamba – A unique blend of Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvian cuisine
SushiSamba in the Heron Tower and located on the 38th and 39th floors at 110 Bishopsgate features the highest outdoor dining terraces in Europe, with amazing 360-degree city views. Climbing up to the restaurant in the panoramic glass elevators from inside the building to the outside is an experience in itself, smooth and speedy, we reached the main dining room in seconds.
The floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the London skyline and the magical ceiling lights hanging at different lengths through bamboo worked together to create a stunningly romantic and intimate atmosphere, a truly memorable space for that special occasion.
The famous orange tree sculpture on the west terrace helps to further create that indoor-outdoor space while also being a beautiful piece of artwork. The entire restaurant oozed glamour and sophistication, from the striking shiny black and white flooring and the honey-coloured banquets and dining chairs to the little touch of hanging greenery, just to soften the décor.
We were welcomed warmly and taken to our rather stylish table, with a view to the London night vista. We immediately checked out the menu with a cocktail and took a little advice from the waiting staff who were happy to explain the menu, cooking techniques, and flavours of the dishes we were thinking of choosing.
Our favourite dish to start with when dining ‘Japanese style’ is seviche, so we chose the tuna and salmon, we were also encouraged to try the wagyu gyoza and shrimp tempura. The presentation and flavours were simply divine, fresh and light, the perfect way to begin our SushiSamba experience.
Next we decided to share a few plates, blackened cod with sweet corn and polenta, we also decided on the tiger maki which is crabmeat, tiger prawn tempura, wasabi mayo, beetroot yoghurt, eel sauce (which was a first for me), this was surprisingly moreish, a dish I wish I was not sharing, I could have eaten this twice! We also chose a salmon and a tuna hand roll.
We didn’t think we had space for dessert, but after a short break, we managed to squeeze in the chocolate banana cake and the soft Japanese rice cake which was filled with ice cream and served with warm white chocolate sauce, oh my, the perfect finale.
Our entire dining experience was a complete treat, exceptional in every way, from the elevator and the welcome to the cocktails, service and cuisine, a first-class 100% perfect evening.
We were dining on a Saturday night and the restaurant was packed, full of happy diners, the ambience was buzzy, alive with love and laughter, we felt extremely privileged to have been invited for this wonderful experience, (we recommend you book to avoid disappointment).

We loved our fabulous meal at SushiSamba, the combination of Peruvian, Japanese and Brazilian cuisine was exceptionally delicious, it was delicious and creative and we will definitely be back maybe to try the new Gunpowder Brunch.
