Sanlorenzo celebrates new yacht design milestones

The new SL86A and SP92 reflect the Italian shipyard’s core commitment to innovation and sustainability, with a meticulous customisation process that allows complete creative freedom.

Masters of Italian yacht and superyacht design, Sanlorenzo, has launched the 26.60-metre SL86A and the 27.95-metre SP92 in the UK market, marking an evolution of the Asymmetrical and Smart Performance lines.

Having made their debut at the Cannes Yacht Show 2024, both the SL86A and SP92 are smaller than their respective predecessors with strategic structural reconsiderations allowing for expansive spacious interiors that are entirely customisable – an attractive blank canvas for out of the box thinkers.

“Over the last year, Sanlorenzo has seen growing demand for bespoke yachts from the UK market and we’re thrilled to be introducing the SL86A and SP92 to our UK client base. The new models showcase artisanal craftsmanship, cutting-edge technology and space-enhancing design, all shaped by the needs of today’s private yacht owner and underlined by Sanlorenzo’s signature Italian sophistication and style.” Says Nick Hatfield, Sales Manager at Sanlorenzo Yachts UK.

SL86A

Developed in collaboration with Studio Zuccon International Project, the Asymmetrical SL86A eschews the traditional structural approach, manifesting previously unattainable spatial capacity and a main deck that can be dedicated solely to entertaining and guest conviviality.

On the main deck, one of the two external walkways has been eliminated and the staircase connecting the cockpit to the flybridge has been reconsidered to create a larger open living area, with the option for a spacious aft salon and customisable dining area at the bow. The main deck also features a port-side passage to a unique forward dining area that can be customised to serve as a cinema room or playroom – an additional onboard living space that no other yacht of a similar size can boast.

The port side deck has been moved up a level, fitted with floor to ceiling windows to substantially increase interior volume and maximise borderless immersion into the seascape. External spaces have also been enlarged and made more accessible, with two large sunbathing areas, one at the bow and one integrated into the superstructure. Meanwhile, a minimalistic reconfiguration of the stern conceals the stairs from view and reveals a spacious garage capable of housing a Williams tender and a jet ski. On the lower deck, the SL86A features the classic four cabins with the owner’s cabin located amidships.

For the interior style, Studio Zuccon International Project return to the essence of the materials themselves, channeling transparency, simplicity, and lightness – ephemeral qualities typical of asymmetry – through the application of untreated wood, marble, stone, and natural fabrics such as linen, jute, hemp, and silk.

Not only do the yacht’s configurations incorporate recycled and recyclable materials based on client specifications, but the entire SL86A project involved a detailed hydrodynamic study of the hull to optimise resistance, and consequently, consumption and range.

SP92

As the second model in the Smart Performance line, Sanlorenzo’s SP92 reaffirms its commitment to research in the segment of high-performance, sustainable and sporty boats. From the unique hull geometries, which optimise the resistance coefficient at commonly used speeds, to the high-efficiency monocrystalline photovoltaic system and an optimised superstructure design for larger solar panels, everything has been designed to minimise consumption and reduce environmental impact.

Developed in collaboration with Studio Zuccon International Project for the exterior design and architect Piero Lissoni for the interior design, the SP92 combines the best technologies found in the SP110, meeting the challenge of applying the typical design of the range to a new entry-level model. This design is inspired by minimalism and clean lines, further enhancing the yacht’s sportiness and harmony while maintaining its unparalleled style, elegance, and performance.

The interiors are distributed over four levels, featuring solutions that enhance the spaciousness and livability of the different areas, strengthening the connection with the surrounding marine environment. An example is the large windows that connect the interior with the expansive aft area, which includes a customisable beach area of approximately 45 square metres.

The first level, which is an extension of the aft cockpit, houses a lounge that can be furnished in various bespoke ways using composite materials. The higher second level hosts the main living space, with large perimeter windows, one of which is sliding to fully enjoy the connection with the outside. On the third level, a short corridor leads to the cabins: the owner’s cabin at the bow, with a full-beam layout, and two twin guest cabins aft on either side, each with an en-suite bathroom. Continuing along the corridor towards the stern leads to the unexpected fourth level, which can be configured as either a Playroom/Cinema, convertible into a cabin, or a full additional fourth cabin. In both versions, the bathroom is en-suite. At the extreme bow, accessible from the command bridge, is the crew area, featuring two double cabins, each with a private bathroom, a laundry area, and a lounge/pantry serving the large, well-equipped kitchen.

The SP92 retains the speed and design features of the line: on one hand, offering a total of 4,000 horsepower with waterjet propulsion, and on the other, the possibility of customisation with a layout that provides essential space elements for clients approaching this size range. All this allows the SP92 to consume about 12-13% less at cruising speed than the same boat built with conventional production processes and traditional materials.
