Recreation Bondi Beach: Australian made & owned clean beauty
The wildly successful Duck & Dry chain has partnered with Recreation Bondi Beach, Sydney to launch the first ever ‘Scented Beach Blow-Dry’. Using Recreation Bondi’s infamous multi-use scented Hair & Body Oil stocked across retail giants Sephora Australia to achieve glossy locks and shimmering skin. The clean and thoughtful fragrance house includes a combination of local ingredients across its hair & body oil lines from squalene, rosehip, jojoba, coconut oil, macadamia oils, and shea oil. ‘’They’ve also got beautiful ocean extracts inside – one is called blue sea kale, like the kale that you eat, and the other one is golden seaweed. And they are both incredibly rich in vitamins and antioxidants. They’re super hydrating, protective and they also encourage cell turnover.” Founder Nedahl Stelio. Each hair and body oil complements each fragrance in the Recreation Bondi Beach lines.
Delivering an Australian edge to existing London Blow-Dries in time for SS24, Recreation Bondi Beach have defined the collaboration as designed to evoke the sweet & romantic musky smells associated with Bondi Beach mimicking the scent of a pink sunset on a summer vacation. Just as food can evoke powerful memories and emotions, fragrances aim to create an olfactory experience that is comforting, indulgent and often nostalgic. who wouldn’t want to experience a blow-dry with an afterglow of tropical beachy scents?
The brand’s thoughtful approach extends to packaging too, with all glass bottles and aluminium lids. “I’ve been working on this product on my own for so long. Self-doubt often creeps in, but you have to kick that to the curb and believe in yourself to go forward,” Stelio tells Vogue with Recreation Beauty in x stores with sales of millions of units since inception. Adding, she’s more than thrilled with the Duck & Dry collaboration and has big plans.’’
The Duck & Dry brand is a service concept expressed as you’re getting service in a new and social way, where you’re sitting at a bar having a glass of wine, watching a movie, perhaps you’ve gone with friends… You’re not staring at yourself in a mirror the whole time. And there’s the built-in idea of the big reveal when they turn you around to the mirror at the end. The station itself, all the dimensions and all materials are standardised across all the stores including additional manicure services. The idea is that a customer who’s travelling, at a Duck & Dry anywhere in London, will find that part of the experience comfortable and familiar.
In the nine years since its first store opened in 2014 London, Duck & Dry has added multiple locations across London from Chelsea, Knightsbridge, Mayfair, and Islington that conform to their signature design aesthetic and offer customers in any location a consistent experience.
Recreation Bondi Beach x Duck & Dry is offering ‘Scented Beach Blow-Dries’ across their Chelsea & Mayfair locations from July 8th for two months, delivering the Bondi Beach experience to London shoppers. Customers will experience a fully scented Blow-Dry with a choice of fragrance menus from its lines. Infusing Recreation Bondi Beach Hair & Body oil as part of the Duck & Dry record speed 30-minute blow dry expertise, the collaboration ‘look’ is inspired by Aussie social media model Isabelle Mathers (@isabellemathersx)’ who often takes her hair from curly to sleek and straight. ‘’When deciding on an exact look we loved how Bella is so interchangeable with her hair looks and we thought why not recreate this coveted style using Recreation to achieve that Aussie meets London girl by delivering something unique to fans of the brand in the UK’’.
