Pennyhill Park in the heart of the Surrey countryside – Luxury awaits
Nestled in the wonderful Surrey countryside in 120 acres of parkland, is the most exquisite resort, catering to all, whether you fancy an energetic stay, a spa day visit, something a little more relaxing, or a foodie haven of superb cuisine, Pennyhill should be on your bucket list.
There are 124 rooms and suites designed with comfort and style in mind, and so so chic. There is an award-winning spa that involves over 20 experiences such as jacuzzis, indoor and outdoor pools, a hydrotherapy pool, sauna and steam rooms, a tepidarium, and lots of luxurious rooms offering an array of fabulous treatments. But if you really want to splash out you can book one of the new cabanas, they include an outdoor jacuzzi bath, a well-stocked mini-fridge of soft drinks, tea and coffee-making facilities, towels, robes, and sun loungers. You can also order food and drink directly to your cabana, making it the perfect base for you whilst taking advantage of those Thermal Spa facilities. There is also a hi-tech gym if you’re up to a little workout to burn off some calories consumed in one of the many dining options.
There are several restaurants, you can dine poolside, and enjoy a cocktail in the sun, you can also dine in the Spa restaurant, Themis, which offers a great selection of healthy options, or you can try Hillfield where sustainability is key to sourcing products from the hotel’s own kitchen garden and from surrounding suppliers.
The other dining option is Latymer, a fine dining restaurant with a Michelin star for 2023 and 4 AA Rosettes. Again the ingredients are locally sourced and change seasonally to ensure the freshest of dishes. Latymer has an intimate, romantic, and luxurious feel with wooden paneling, a beamed ceiling, plush interiors, comfortable seating, sumptuous table settings, and soft lighting.
We were invited to experience Pennhill Park for a two-night stay, we were spoiled, we were booked into a stunning suite that was sumptuously appointed with heavy luxurious drapes and soft furnishings, with a rich plum-colored velvety design. The bathroom was a treat with a huge deep bath, a tv, a fabulous shower, and luxury Molton Brown goodies. We also had a large lounge area, beautifully designed and perfect for a little work, that always needs to be followed up on. The bedroom was a delight and the huge kingsize bed was probably the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in.
We decided to go a little healthy for breakfast and booked Themis on both mornings, the choice was amazing, all light, fresh, and delicious, with freshly squeezed juices, pastries, and hot and cold options prepared as you place the order.
After breakfast we spent several hours in a Cabana, we were lucky, the sun was shining. The cabanas offer a degree of privacy and are set away from the outdoor pool, surrounded by stunning gardens. We slept, read, swam, and jacuzzied. We ordered a couple of glasses of prosecco and salads from the iPad, which were delivered within a few minutes, this was such a special experience.
After our lunch in the cabana, we had Natura Bissé facials booked. Natura Bissé is my all-time favourite brand of beauty products and I personally could not wait for my treatment, I was not disappointed. The treatment rooms are quiet with soft background music playing. My therapist expertly sent me to heaven and back, my skin felt soft and plumped and looked glowing. The Natura Bissé CC products smell good enough to eat, they are not only beautifully aromatic but also highly efficient.
Following our treatments we went back into the Thermal Spa, mainly to wake us up a little! The Ballroom indoor pool was just wonderful, great for fitness and swimming lengths. After another hour in the Thermal Spa enjoying the sauna, steam, jacuzzi, and ice-cold plunge pool, we went back to our suite to ready ourselves for dinner in Hillfield, we were really quite peckish!
Hillfield has a relaxed vibe, but equally, is quite sophisticated, the menu is delicious, the food divine and the service is first class. We enjoyed an evening here of incredibly tasty and elegantly presented dishes. I highly recommend the English burrata with Isle of Wight tomatoes, spring onions, and chives, fresh, light, and very summery, my partner chose marinated hand-dived scallops, they were stunning. For my main course I decided on the South Coast sea bream served with crispy seaweed potato, minted peas, and warm tartar sauce, truly divine, my partner chose the fillet of beef with a peppercorn sauce and triple-cooked chips, it was cooked to perfection and the fillet cut like butter! We left room for dessert, but we shared and decided on the Hillfield Millionaire, which is a chocolate sponge, with dark chocolate mousse, vanilla shortbread crumble, almond miso caramel sauce, sweet, rich, and amazing.
In conclusion, our two-night stay was simply superb, from the suite, the spa treatments, the cuisine, the service, and the cabana, faultless in fact.
Pennyhill Park has got to be ‘up there’ as one of the most perfect all-around 5-star hotel resorts in the UK, and we would return with no hesitation.
