Luxuria Lifestyle interviews Lee Percival CEO of Templar Protection
Lee Percival ( Founder and Owner) is the driving force behind Templar Protection. In this exclusive interview, he shares his insights and vision of the global risk management consultancy, which specialises in providing bespoke services designed to safeguard high-net-worth individuals and businesses worldwide.
Can you share the journey that inspired you to specialise in global risk management?
My journey into specialising in global risk management and bespoke security services has been profoundly shaped by my military background, natural curiosity, and passion for strategic problem-solving. Early in my career, I learned the critical importance of assessing and managing risks effectively, which instilled in me the ability to think critically, adapt quickly, and plan strategically—skills that continue to define my professional approach.
Over time, I realised that this field perfectly combines my strengths and interests. Advising organisations and individuals on navigating uncertainty, protecting their interests, and staying resilient in the face of challenges has become more than just a career – it’s a genuine passion.
My work has taken me around the world, collaborating with diverse clients to provide expert guidance, security solutions, and protective services. These experiences have deepened my understanding of global risks and strengthened my ability to deliver tailored strategies that empower my clients to thrive, no matter the environment.
How is Templar Protection different from other risk management companies in the industry?
This is a great question. With thousands of security companies in the UK alone, competition is undeniably intense. To stand out, it’s essential to possess distinctive qualities that set you apart and demonstrate unique value to your clients. These clients are often investing large sums of money into their security and safety, and as with, any critical decision, they need absolute confidence that they are making the right choice.
Exclusive & Selective:- As a company we adopt a highly selective approach to our clientele, exclusively partnering with what we define as tier-one clients. This deliberate selectivity enables us to provide each client with our undivided attention, round-the-clock support, and seamless access to our resources and expertise. By prioritising quality over quantity, we deliver a level of service that broader, less tailored approaches simply cannot deliver.
Discretion & Confidentiality:- We operate without a public-facing website, reinforcing our reputation for delivering discreet, highly confidential services and protecting client privacy. The sensitive nature of our work means we prioritise direct communication and personal relationships, ensuring trust and security throughout our engagements.
Additionally, we maintain a carefully managed, small social media footprint. This deliberate choice enables us to connect with the next generation of wealth holders while upholding our principles of discretion and exclusivity.
What are the biggest security challenges businesses and individuals face in today’s challenging world?
In today’s increasingly complex world, businesses and HNWs face a wide range of security challenges. For businesses, their size, valuable assets, and critical operations make them targets for various threats. HNWs, on the other hand, deal with risks tied to their wealth, public exposure, status, and visibility, leaving them vulnerable to unique risks and threats.
Cybersecurity remains one of the most pressing concerns. Both groups maintain extensive digital footprints, with personal and corporate information often accessible through social media, leaked databases, or public channels. This makes them prime targets for cybercriminals employing tactics like ransomware, phishing, identity theft, and intellectual property theft. For businesses, the rise of industrial espionage and insider threats further complicates the landscape, while HNWs face increasing risks of financial fraud and theft of information. Furthermore, both groups face substantial reputational risks stemming from cyber attacks, as leaked information or publicised breaches can cause long-term damage to personal or corporate trust.
On the physical security front, wealthy individuals are frequently exposed to threats such as home invasions, burglaries, harassment, kidnapping, and extortion, sometimes with their families or close associates also at risk. For businesses, physical threats can range from vandalism and theft to protests and terrorism, especially in politically unstable regions. Critical assets like offices, factories, and supply chains are also at risk during civil unrest or natural disasters, potentially disrupting operations and causing financial losses.
In this evolving threat landscape, proactive security strategies, including advanced security measures and tailored physical security protocols, are essential to mitigate risk. These are just some general threats and do not cover all potential risks that NHWs or businesses could face. Each situation is unique, and differing circumstances or geographical locations can introduce additional vulnerabilities. By acting preemptively, both parties can better safeguard their assets, operations, and reputations.
How does Templar Protection design individual solutions for clients?
No two clients are the same; each faces unique risks, challenges and security concerns. That’s why designing a security solution can never follow a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach. Instead, it requires a bespoke strategy tailored to the principal’s specific needs and vulnerabilities.
To achieve this, we sit with the client, carefully assess key factors, and ask targeted questions to gather the relevant information needed to evaluate risk accurately. This allows us to allocate appropriate resources and deliver the right level of protection for each client. We also recognise that threats are constantly evolving, so it’s equally important to reassess, monitor, and adapt our strategies to ensure long-term, effective security.
How does Templar Protection stay ahead of global changing threats?
We stay ahead of global changing threats by maintaining a proactive and informed approach to risk management. We constantly monitor emerging risks, geopolitical shifts, and technological advancements to identify potential threats before they escalate. By working closely with an extensive network of global partners, we develop strategies that adapt to changing environments. This combination of expertise, technology and forward-thinking ensures we can provide our clients with the protection and insight they need to navigate today’s rapidly evolving landscape.
Can you give us an insight into how your team would handle a major crisis?
Of course, I’d be happy to provide some insight. Our team approaches major crises by following a structured, proactive, and adaptable framework. For clarity, I’ll break it down into key stages, highlighting how we ensure rapid and strategic responses tailored to the unique needs of any situation.
Preparation and Planning: We believe a strong foundation is critical. Our approach begins long before a crisis occurs, through comprehensive risk assessments, detailed contingency planning, and scenario-based training. This ensures we are equipped to address a wide range of threats, from physical security risks to cyber incidents and natural disasters.
Mobilisation and Assessment: During a crisis, we immediately establish a crisis command centre and deploy experts to assess the situation on the ground. Prioritising swift action, we focus on stabilising the issue and containing any potential escalation.
Clear and Transparent Communication: Effective communication is the cornerstone of our crisis management strategy. We ensure all stakeholders—including clients, teams, and relevant authorities—are aligned. Our emphasis on transparency and accuracy helps maintain trust and facilitates seamless coordination.
Tailored Response Strategies: Recognising that every crisis is unique, we rely on real-time intelligence to craft bespoke strategies. Whether it involves evacuating personnel, neutralising threats, or mitigating reputational damage, our responses are designed for precision and impact.
Collaboration with Experts: Our team of security consultants, risk analysts, and crisis communication specialists collaborates seamlessly. When necessary, we engage external experts to bring additional expertise and ensure the best outcomes.
Post-Crisis Review and Recovery: After resolving the crisis, we focus on recovery and continuous improvement. Through detailed debriefs and evaluations, we refine our protocols and assist clients in rebuilding trust and operational stability.
How has the global risk changed over the past few years, and how has Templar Protection made adjustments to take this into consideration?
The global threat landscape has undergone significant transformations in recent years, driven by rapid technological advancements, shifting geopolitical dynamics, and emerging challenges. These changes have made global risks more complex and interconnected. Let me give you a couple of examples of how we have adjusted to these developments.
First, technological risks have intensified, with the rise of cyber threats such as ransomware and state-sponsored hacking. Additionally, artificial intelligence presents dual challenges- serving as a tool for innovation while also posing risks through misinformation and deepfakes. In response, we have implemented proactive threat monitoring, conducted digital risk assessments, and developed comprehensive resilience programs to safeguard our clients’ assets and operations.
Another area is geopolitical risk. Rising tensions across various countries illustrate the global nature of these challenges, for example: political instability in the Middle East, the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, and increased insurgencies in East Africa have created risks for businesses and individuals operating in these areas. To address this, we offer geopolitical risk assessments, localised security strategies, and emergency evacuation support, ensuring our clients can operate safely and confidently in these environments.
How do you instil client confidentiality to build long-standing relationships, as I would imagine trust is crucial?
Client confidentiality is absolutely critical in bespoke security and risk management—it’s the foundation of trust and the cornerstone of long-standing relationships. We instil this by operating with the utmost discretion and professionalism in every aspect of our work. However, confidentiality goes beyond processes—it’s about how we conduct ourselves. By consistently demonstrating integrity, respect, and transparency, we inspire confidence in our clients. They know that their privacy and security are our top priorities, which naturally strengthens trust and fosters lasting relationships. In this field, trust isn’t given; it’s earned through actions, and we take that responsibility seriously.
What has been the most challenging project your team have experienced?
Rather than pointing out a single project, I’d say that each one has been challenging in its own way. Some have required innovative technical solutions, and others have demanded exceptional coordination across teams or tight turnarounds under pressure. The nature of our work ensures that every project tests us in new ways, but it is precisely those challenges that drive our growth and success.
Looking ahead, what direction do you see Templar Protection taking?
Looking ahead, Templar Protection has a clear vision for growth and innovation. Expanding into key markets like the UAE and Hong Kong will create new opportunities in the region with a growing demand for high-quality protection services. At the same time, we are committed to strengthening our global network of partners to enhance our capabilities and deliver seamless service.
We believe in taking things one step at a time when it comes to growing the company. This ensures we maintain high standards while exploring new opportunities.
