Featuring a gourmet menu crafted to complement the distinctive minerality of the Amelia Wines – Pinot Noir 2022 and Chardonnay 2022, where each course was meticulously paired with the Amelia wine collection enhancing the flavours and elevating the celebration. The partnership leveraged their shared name to create a memorable and stylish event, with the name “Amelia” consistently being one of the UK’s most popular Girls’ names since 2004*, and the No.1 name in 2012.
Lady Amelia Windsor commented – “It’s been a wonderful day celebrating my birthday with the wine brand Amelia and friends. Not only is it a great choice of name for a luxury wine (even though it’s a few years older than me!) but the wine itself tastes aromatic and fresh on the palate. I don’t drink regularly, so when I do sit down to enjoy a drink it needs to be of exceptional quality, Amelia wine is just that. Inspired by the Limarí Valley, you can tell how the sea and the single vineyard’s soils have shaped both the Chardonnay and the Pinot Noir to give them a unique minerality and freshness in every glass.”
Amelia Wine, launched in 1993 by leading Chilean wine company Concha y Toro, is an ultra-premium Chilean wine known for its exceptional quality and elegance, and recently recognised among the top-rated wines in Latin America**. Produced in the Quebrada Seca vineyard in the coastal Limari region, just south of the Atacama Desert, the driest desert on Earth boasts the remarkable contrasting sight of lush green vines adjacent to wild cacti, thanks to the morning fog that comes in from the nearby Pacific Coastline. The unique environment of the Limari terroir, where individual blocks of the vineyard are selected for a unique freshness and minerality to each wine. Amelia wines are both B-Corp and Vegan certified and have garnered significant acclaim in the world of fine wines, with the Chardonnay recently being awarded Best White Wine in Latin America by Alistair Cooper MW (Master of Wine)**. Furthermore, both wines have received exceptionally high scores from renowned wine expert and journalist, Tim Atkin MW, with the Chardonnay receiving an extraordinary 97 points and the Pinot Noir receiving 95 points, cementing Amelia Wine as a leader in exceptional winemaking on a global stage.
Amelia Pinot Noir 2022 is a single varietal and is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, 10% of which are new and the remaining 90% second use. The Pinot Noir is influenced by the proximity of the sea and the fresh breezes that cool the vineyard, enabling its ventilation and this, together with the cloudy mornings, leads to slow, prolonged ripening of the fruit, making for fresher wines. “This Pinot Noir has an intense, yet delicate expression of red fruit with a pronounced presence of red cherry. There is a more distinct chalky and mineral note. It is elegantly intense and balanced” – Concha y Toro’s head winemaker and technical director, Marcelo Papa.
Amelia Chardonnay 2022, influenced by the proximity to the sea and the fresh breezes that cool the vineyard, leads to slow, prolonged ripening of the fruit, making for fresher wines. The wine is then aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, of which 10% are new and the remaining 90% are from second use. It is a clean and bright, light-yellow colour. It is a complex and layered wine, dominated by minerality, white flowers, pears, and flint. Both are refreshing and very long on the palate, with a remarkable salinity on the finish.
