Jumeirah Port Soller Mallorca – sophistication and service unchallenged
We flew easily into Palma airport Mallorca from London, whizzed through security and customs to be met by an air-conditioned super luxurious limousine to whisk us to Jumeirah Port Soller, the transition from airport to hotel was seamless and just 30 minutes long.
We were greeted very warmly by the hotel porters and reception staff with a delicious fresh orange juice and cooling flannel, taken to our Junior Suite on the seventh floor overlooking what must be the most spectacular views on the island. I’m not too proud to say having not travelled anywhere exotic or exciting for over a year, it took my breath away and bought a lump to my throat! The views of the sea, cliffs and surrounding mountains were totally stunning, I sat and took it in on our south facing sea view balcony for a good hour, the stress leaving my shoulders immediately.
The hotel is perched on top of a cliff edge, overlooking stunning seascapes, the ocean below bright azure blue and clear, with rather glamorous super yachts on the horizon making the views even more interesting.
We unpacked after a guide of our ample room facilities, electric curtains, huge glass sliding doors onto the balcony with soft squidgy sun loungers, a fabulous walk-in wet room including a large bath.
There was a large dressing area, safe, tea and coffee and min bar and last but not least a huge sumptuous king size bed, not wishing time away but I was looking forward to bedtime this evening!
With an extremely early start to our first day we decided to rest by the infinity pool on the eighth floor we settled under an umbrella with our first holiday cocktail and shared a club sandwich and promptly fell asleep, listening to the mellow poolside music and light chatter of the other hotel guests.
The hotel is simply huge spanning the cliff edge, but runs like clockwork. The Jumeirah team ensures that your stay is of the highest standard, your wish is catered to with speed and a nice smile.
This is the most elegant hotel, a real jewel in the Jumeirah Group crown, sophisticated and extremely stylish, featuring a plethora of wonderful and varied dining experiences.
Cap Roig Brasserie where we enjoyed breakfast on a stunning terrace overlooking that gorgeous ocean. Named after the red-looking fish that inhabits the Soller shores, Cap Roig Brasserie offers the highest quality fresh seasonal produce, sourced directly from the Mediterranean Sea, ideal for a romantic evening experience.
Sa Talaia Pool Bar has a truly relaxing atmosphere with the perfect menu to enjoy either poolside or actually inside. It serves light snacks inspired by locally sourced ingredients, super following a refreshing dip in the pool and some much-needed vitamin D.
We enjoyed a fabulous evening in The Sunset Lounge listening to the resident DJ playing great music; this was a fun evening, sitting up on high comfortable chairs, enjoying Nikkei inspired delicacies with a combination of Japanese and Peruvian cuisines. Seabass ceviche or tiradito paired with a world-class cocktail menu. To be honest I could eat here every night, I don’t think I’d ever get bored of the atmosphere and fab dining experience they have to offer.
Es Fanals by Javier Sorano Es Fanals is the setting for an extraordinary experience “to share”. The restaurant brings to life the vibrance of conventional Spanish kitchens through an indulgent tapas selection. This is yet another inspiring treat to savour, the service and staff knowledge was amazing, the food tasty and the views stunning.
The hotel is just a five minute taxi ride to the pretty Port Soller where you will find numerous authentic restaurants, cafés and bars. but we didn’t feel the need to leave the hotel as the choice of dining was so good within the hotel, we enjoyed each and every restaurant in Jumeirah Port Soller and actually couldn’t choose between them, the breakfast in Cap Roig was perfect as was the Paella we enjoyed here one evening, the tapas in Es Fanals was sublime as were the wonderful Japanese-Peruvian dishes. While we enjoyed the relaxation by the pool, a few early evening cocktails definitely seemed to be ‘the thing’ to do.
Talking of relaxation, I was lucky enough to enjoy an hour in the spa in the capable hands of one of the therapists, she managed to send me into a deep slumber, and after twenty minutes in the relaxation area by the spa pool I felt fully alive, rebalanced and invigorated, ready to face our huge luxury event that was taking place at Port Adriano at Coast by East with 25 luxury brands and over 300 guests, organised by Luxuria Lifestyle Balearics and Southern Spain.
The hotel concierge service is second to none, full of knowledge of the local attractions and restaurants. We were treated to a very special couple of hours with the Perfect Charter Mallorca crew on a spectacular yacht for a sunset cruise, it included bubbles and nibbles (a partner of Jumeirah Port Soller). It’s a fabulously romantic and fun way to while away some early evening time and to see the stunning Mallorca Jurassic-like coastline. The yacht can cater to up to 10 people, so romance or party, it’s a perfect luxury experience.
If you feel the need to explore this beautiful island of Mallorca, as we did, Roig Drive Mallorca offer a fantastic luxury car rental drop off and pick up service. We took in the coastline and mountain roads in a fabulous convertible Mini, easy to drive, stylish and lots and lots of fun. It was sent to the hotel early one morning and collected on the day we left, fully insured and with tank full of fuel. It completed our trip perfectly.
Thank you all round to the Jumeirah team at Port Soller, you looked after us like royalty, but then again I think you treat all of your guests like royalty, and we can’t wait to return.
