Perfection. That’s what architect Klaus May aims for in his work. And gazing upon any one of the 160 projects he has completed with his company Ibizastyle®, this laudable objective is certainly evident.

IBIZASTYLE® CREATED BY KLAUS MAY In Ibiza, the basic form for many of his houses is the iconic cube with a new technology which he develops himself. For example, nearly invisible crevasses beneath windows and on terraces funnel rainwater into a utility water tank. Or a non-partitioned window wall can be soundlessly withdrawn into a double wall he devised.

FULLY TRANSPARENT “I accompany each step of the work personally, from the initial sketch to supervising actual construction,” says Klaus May. He first hunts for the most suitable piece of land to build on, recommends and ultimately contracts the builder of the property.

“The client becomes the owner of the land immediately, not later on when the building is handed over. All legal and building-permit relevant fundamentals are cleared up prior to purchasing the land,” the architect explains.

Conception, sketched plans and final design are then developed and depicted in floor plans, views and 3D images.

Once the plans have been approved by the client, the listing of the costs involved is presented, the Ibizastyle® house is carried out. The interior is also designed and finished in May’s workshops. “All the materials we use, as well as our trained employees, are brought from the mainland to the islands. That is the only way such high-quality standards can be guaranteed,” explains Klaus May. It is also the best way to make sure that every Ibizastyle® house is a custom-designed property built for the client alone.
