Everything Retreat, Ribble Valley – Everything you need to unwind and restore
Nestled in the heart of the idyllic Ribble Valley, Everything Retreat is the perfect getaway to restore or escape city life for a weekend. This independent hideaway offers a stay in one of twelve meticulously designed lodges with you’ve guessed it ‘everything’ in mind.
The Lodges
Each lodge has a private terrace, hot tub, and log burner and is essentially a mini-home which I adore. Their Unique Collection of lodges is individually themed and you can choose from Highlands and English Heritage to Ski or even Scando. We stayed in Itambé (Africa), and the decor was glorious. From traditional tribal prints to fixtures and features, the attention to detail made it that extra bit more special.
We found ourselves settling down for the evening with a cup of mint tea, looking out the window with the log fire crackling away beside us, and a sense of calm washed over us.
Other features in the lodge included bathhouse toiletries, luxury bathrobes, towels, linens, a Nespresso coffee machine, underfloor heating, a breakfast bar, an iron, and so on. You can even bring your four-legged friend as Everything Retreat is dog friendly! Your private kitchen is fully stocked and breakfast is delivered to you each morning in a little wooden box in your own outdoor shed.
The Experience
Upon arrival, the whole team is there for you to start your experience with a glass of bubbly (my kind of welcome), smiles galore and much more. They then take you up to the lodge and tell you all about the local area, the best hiking spots and their newly launched on-site bar which is perfect for an evening cocktail and charcuterie board or even afternoon tea. In the summer months, guests can make the most of BBQs and pizza evenings. Louise Monk, the Founder of Everything Retreat has got bold ambitions for the business, from developing their wellness offering to private events hire and local collaborations. She’s got the energy and intelligence to make it happen, along with a truly wonderful team around her. Big shout out to Kelly and Lucy too.
You cannot beat waking up to the surroundings of the Ribble Valley. This nationally acclaimed foodie paradise in the North of England has been awarded more top restaurants than London and Manchester (2021 National Restaurant Awards), an absolute rural foodie paradise for produce.
One thing I will say is when you come to a place like this, it’s the perfect opportunity to actually take time off, unplug and not break the usual rule (meaning we often come back more tired than when we left). Everything Retreat is the exception to the rule, take your time to see the countryside sparkle, but this setting is meant for the most enjoyable mooching. With the location of Everything Retreat, we were spoiled for choice of country pubs within a 20-minute vicinity from The Millstone to The Northcote (if you’d prefer Michelin dining).
When it comes to ‘what to do’ I want to stress that the most important thing I took from this trip was that you don’t always have to be doing something adventurous to make the most of a holiday. The languid gaps between going and doing things are what make these countryside escapes sparkle, but the surrounding set-up is meant for enjoyable mooching, too.
Details
You can book a stay at one of the gorgeous lodges for as little as £240 per night, on a multitude of dates throughout the year.
Looking for the best of both worlds?
Multi-staycations are going to be the next big thing, so if you’re looking for a mix of fine dining to eco-retreat, it’s worth going from Everything Retreat to Northcote which are 15 minutes apart. I absolutely adore the fact that both locations joined forces to promote their unique experiences instead of being in direct competition. Why not take a read of the Northcote review here?
