Edinburgh – House of Gods Hotel & Things to do
Edinburgh is a world-famous city break destination known for its brilliant history and breathtaking buildings. It has always been a destination on my list to visit purely for the amazing attractions and architecture.
To visit Edinburgh, I would recommend a minimum of two days. You really don’t need long in this city as even from my short visit, I managed to do so much! It’s one of those cities that you can easily visit for a quick weekend break and have a great time.
House of Gods
During my time in Edinburgh, I stayed at the House of Gods Hotel. The hotel is built to immerse you in a world of extravagance and style. I have never stayed in a hotel quite like this one! From the cocktail bar to the butler service and ‘Unlimited Prosecco Bell’, it’s hard not to be impressed.
The rooms are Versailles-inspired and are a great hideaway for two. The hotel rooms are slightly on the smaller side so this is a perfect stopover for a short break away.
The Classic Room features a hand-built four-poster bed which was really comfortable along with a hidden TV Mirror. This makes watching TV such a cool experience as you don’t have a TV sticking out into the room that takes up too much room. This way, the TV is hidden and you can enjoy catching up on your favourite series in bed. The TVs are Smart TVs fully loaded with Netflix. The bathroom is a luxury marble en-suite and you also get a fully stocked hand-built cocktail bar. The Nespresso machine is also hidden in a cupboard so you don’t lose any space in the room.
If you are looking for a room with a bit more space and even more luxury additions, the Suite would be ideal for you! The Nirvana of hotel suites is complete with a free-standing Victorian bathtub. You get all the same additions as the Classic, however, you can also enjoy the bathtub, and separate shower room and the room size is slightly larger.
Treat Me Like I’m Famous Package
At House of Gods, you can enjoy a VIP experience when you book online called the ‘Treat Me Like I’m Famous’ Package. You can level up your stay and live the luxury dream of a celebrity! This package is available when you book any of their rooms be it the Orient Express-inspired cabin, Versailles-styled Classic, or the Grand Suite.
Included within the package is:
On arrival, you will be greeted with a rose petal, a balloon-filled room and exclusive handmade chocolates.
Summon the on-call butler to bring your bottle of House of Gods X San Samone DOCG Prosecco Superiore.
Start your night in style with the Millionaire’s in-room cocktail service where your ‘star-tender’ will visit your room to prepare House of Gods’ most exclusive cocktail.
Take a trip down to Lilith’s Lounge cocktail bar to enjoy a complimentary £50 bar tab upgrade where their dedicated cocktail team will guide you through the Rock’n Roll-inspired cocktail menu.
Enjoy bedtime milk & cookies brought to your room by your butler.
It’s fair to say the next morning after all of your cocktails, you’re going to need your butler to bring a luxury upgrade breakfast hamper with Mimosa chasers for you to enjoy from the comfort of your bed.
You can also enjoy late check-out to rest your sore head!
This package is a great way to celebrate an anniversary, birthday or memorable occasion to treat that special person in your life. They deserve to feel like a celebrity, right?!
Johnnie Walker Princes Street Edinburgh Experience
Edinburgh has so much to see and do, and during my stay, I was lucky enough to visit the amazing Johnnie Walker Edinburgh Princes Street Experience. This is a must-do experience if you are in Edinburgh even if you aren’t a huge whisky fan like myself!
The tour is an immersive experience with unique personalised gifts and exclusive cocktails and cuisine, served with exceptional views of Edinburgh Castle from their rooftop bar.
The Journey of Flavour tour is 90 minutes of pure insight into the Johnnie Walker journey, led by an expert guide. It includes three drinks tailored to your preference and to do this you have to fill out a questionnaire before your tour begins. This will give insight into what flavours you enjoy so later on you can enjoy drinks that match your tastebuds!
I was so impressed by how much I learned during this tour and how immersive it was. The lights, music and action were incredible. The staff really made the tour extra special by being fully involved in the experience and passing their passion and knowledge over to us. Based on how I answered the questionnaire, I was given a green wristband which indicates I like Fresh tastes and the drinks I was given were spot on.
At the end of the tour, you are able to enjoy a couple more drinks in a private bar just for you and the small group you experienced the tour with. This was another great addition to the experience and the staff were hands-on making our drinks as quickly as possible. You can book this amazing tour here.
Overall, Edinburgh was such a blast and an incredibly beautiful city. There is so much to do and see and it’s a great place to pop for a city break. As well as the Johnnie Walker tour, there are plenty of shops, coffee shops, restaurants, museums and walking destinations. Climbing Calton Hill is a must for spectacular views overlooking the city.
