Cojean Selfidges – Lovingly prepared delicious food
Selfridges Food Hall has a long-established reputation for those delicious items that are not available in regular supermarkets. I have always loved perusing through the aisles and enjoyed finding unusual store cupboard items and often come home with a bag full of goodies, fresh and otherwise.
The food hall has also been a well-established spot to grab a lunchtime snack or even a glass of champagne and some oysters, but there s a new addition to the space, Cojean.
Cojean selects organic or eco-friendly suppliers or small, local producers that are chosen for the taste and origin of their products. They offer a range of dairy-free, gluten-free and vegetarian products, clearly labeled to help you choose.
Here is what Cojean stands for, their ethos is simple –
NOURRIR feed
Simple and fresh products, are chosen for their nutritional qualities.
AIMER love
The well-being of our customers and our team is our number one priority.
DONNER give
Created to fight poverty and to contribute to the sustainable development of the poorest communities worldwide.
So when you visit Cojean you’ll be happy in the knowledge that the workplace, team, food, drinks, training, packaging and the entire business are entering a new era of complete sustainability, taking care of the world and its inhabitants to the best of their ability.
Then we come to the actual food, the menu changes seasonally, but always includes a selection of salads, soups, smoothies, sandwiches, hot dishes, pastries, desserts and there’s even a juice bar. The items can be ordered in advance, eaten in, or taken away and all are displayed for that quick pick up in fridges.
We were invited to sample a few of these quality items. We ordered a couple of sandwiches and pastries, and a couple of salads and juices. They were presented to us in a lovely little hamper for two, that included a cool compartment, plates, and cutlery.
We decided to nip to Regents Park and make the most of the sunshine, we walked a little and then found a shady spot under a tree and enjoyed a fabulously fresh and tasty Cojean picnic.
The sandwiches were tuna and cucumber rustic and turkey and Emmental brioché, the salads were a Verde pasta salad and a delightful red Mozza salad. We chose my favourite Pasta de Nata, that gorgeous Portuguese custard tart for our pastry selection and washed it all down with mixed red berry juicers.
It was a super picnic, full of fresh and wholesome ingredients and made all the tastier knowing the good Cojean is doing.
