Browning Bros. is a family-run business situated on their organic family farm, Teybrook Farm, in the North Essex Countryside.

Born out of a vision between two brothers to break away from the ordinary. Browning Bros. is passionate about delivering unique experiences providing unusual events and retreats, memorable outdoor weddings, luxury lakeside cabins and the best glamping Essex has to offer. Browning Bros. is located on a certified organic family farm in North Essex countryside, where the focus is always on sustainability and protecting the land for future generations, of which they are now the 5th generation. It is a family story where a passion for bringing people back to nature merges with a love of local heritage, beauty, and farm diversification to create a thoughtful place.

The family-run team operate two outdoor venues between March-October for exclusive hire of weddings, private parties, corporate events, hen/stag events, retreats and more! The venues both come equipped with unique and comfortable glamping accommodations (from bell tents to yurts, Shepherds Hut, Grain Silo, and even a Mercedes Camper Van), undercover facilities for dining/activities and an in-house event team.

Teybrook Orchard is an intimate woodland venue that is hidden away from the world and is perfect for any occasion accommodating up to 120 guests. The venue has a beautiful boho-lined marquee as the reception space with ceremonies taking place under the trees. Here, you will find 11 quirky glamping dwellings located around the venue which provide onsite accommodation for up to 40 guests.

Chalkney Water Meadows venue is hidden away amongst ancient woodland next to a picturesque river and a tree-lined lake. It’s a stunning location for any type of event in Essex accommodating up to 200 guests, with celebrations taking place under three giant hat tipis and ceremonies taking place on the willow tree pontoon facing the lake. Here, you will find 20 “Nomadic” luxury bell tents which provide accommodation for up to 70 guests.

Just over an hour from Central London, 6 miles from Colchester, 30 minutes from Stansted, Browning Bros. secret escapes, the luxury lakeside cabins, are nestled in the heart of the Colne Valley of the rural North Essex countryside. Both cabins are approached down a country track and situated on the edge of a hidden lake, offering beautiful waterfront views. You can enjoy the comfort and luxury the cabins have to offer, with a private hot tub (and Sauna at Kingfishers Nest) overlooking the lake, surrounded by wildlife and nature.

Water Lily Lodge is the first of the secluded cabins, built in 2016 on the edge of Browning’s hidden lakes. The cabin sleeps up to 6 people across 3 bedrooms but is also suitable for just a couple in the master downstairs bedroom. The property is stylish and modern with a splash or rustic charm. With an open plan kitchen/living room and view across the lake, it’s a perfect place for cosy fires and gourmet meals. There is a large decking onto the lake where the hot tub and BBQ sit, a sole healing place for sundowners.

Kingfishers Nest is the second cosy cabin and is situated on the edge of a hidden lake with commanding views across the water. The property is designed for couples and with one en-suite master bedroom, perfect for romantic getaways. This cabin has a Scandinavian, bijou, minimalistic style with plenty of plants, homegrown flowers, and dried grasses (foraged from the farm). It has been designed with rough-sawn Siberian Larch and cladding at 45 degrees, known to be a “carpenter’s dream”, and making for a modern wood effect across the whole cabin. With concrete work surfaces and floors, the cabin is cool and contemporary. An open plan kitchen, dining and living room looking onto the lake with a very comfortable sofa making it hard to leave the wood burner. There is a large wooden decking and patio outside the cabin perfect for BBQs and looking out for the resident Kingfisher!

Surrounded by nature, this beautifully designed snug has a list of luxuries including a sauna, outside shower, hot tub and a bathtub in the bedroom all with special views of the water.

Both cabins are surrounded by woodland with wonderful lakeside views set in a peaceful location, they offer a perfect secret escape for any occasion and dogs are very welcome too. With Chalkney Woods on your doorstop, you can spend hours walking your dog minutes from the cabins.

Nature is always at the forefront of our minds which is why we have chosen The Bramley Range for our guests in the cabins. With a focus on sustainability and inspired by the British countryside surrounding us, the Bramley Range products are eco-friendly using all-natural ingredients, and recyclable packaging and are cruelty-free and vegan-friendly. We want our guests to experience that relaxed and revived feeling of having spent a weekend in the countryside and so have equipped the cabin with shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand wash and hand lotion from the lovely eco-friendly, British, Bramley Range. Washing up and cleaning materials – we use eco-friendly brands only. With sustainability at the forefront of our minds, the roof at Kingfishers Nest is made from sedum, and therefore a microclimate for insects, bird life and other rare species. The sedum roof helps to remove C02 from the atmosphere and lower overall gas emissions.

There are lots of local attractions nearby, including walks at Marshall Estate or Cudmore Grove Country Park, to Mersea Island home to the Colchester native Oyster, and attractions like The Colchester Zoo or Gosfield Lake resort for the kids! And with an abundance of choice for places to eat and drink, including gourmet restaurants, cosy pubs, and bars you are spoilt for choice!
