Bond Shoreditch – a very special kind of hair salon
Talent isn’t the only thing needed to be a successful hair stylist, understanding, patience and vision are equally as important, and Callum at Bond in Shoreditch has all of this, in abundance.
I visited Callum one crazy busy Friday afternoon, arriving 20 minutes late, convinced he’d say he was too busy to see me and of course he would have been perfectly within his rights. So to say I was a touch apprehensive as I bowled through the door of this totally bespoke apartment style salon, would be an understatement, but I needn’t have been, Callum was an absolute sweetie. I was made to feel completely at ease, relaxed and pampered.
The Bond teams ethos is to create an atmosphere of calm, it’s tucked away in a little side street away from the hustle and bustle and the craziness our city and they cut, colour and style, leaving you feeling more you every time you visit. The salon uses vegan and cruelty-free haircare products with packaging made from recycled plastic, they are proud to be as sustainable as possible whilst still offering a full and bespoke service.
To begin with we had a consultation which was not rushed, Callum had a complete understanding of my needs, he gave me a little advice on what would best suit my needs and work with my hair type and face shape, we lightly touched on the colour and I feel I will definitely return to him to get this sorted out asap.
After a thorough wash, massage and conditioning treatment, the artwork began. Callum was slow and methodical, he cut a beautiful jaw length bob for me, meticulously precise and the blow dry was perfect, I have since washed and dried it several times, successfully almost recreating the look he gave me, a good cut ensures ease of home styling, undoubtably.
Callum is a true hair technician and has honed his skills over 16 years, you’ll catch him in the London Salon on Fridays and Saturdays, otherwise he’s at a salon in Norfolk that he owns with his husband, but be quick he likes to do the Los Angeles award ceremonies season, where he works his magic on celebrities.
I hate my photo being taken, I’m just not photogenic and the last time I felt truly confidant enough to pose for photos was about five years ago, but Callum managed to make me feel the time was right for new photos. Thank you Callum.
