As Afternoon Tea Week speedily approaches, The Lane is getting ready to celebrate in style. Please see more info below:
A reimagined Luxury Regency Afternoon Tea by Lily Vanilli. Served in the opulent surroundings of the Grand Saloon, Luxury Afternoon Tea starts with a glass of Taittinger Brut Reserve and a welcome serving of blinis with Exmoor Royal Beluski caviar. Priced at £99 per person, the tea includes a generous array of savoury bites with madeleines topped with lapsang-souchong glazed salmon, bitesize canelés with whipped ricotta and pickled beetroot, a signature Lily Vanilli puff pastry sausage roll made with Cornish sausage meat, roast bacon lardons and a cider vinegar deglaze. Warm scones will be brought to the table with salted whipped butter, cream and homemade jams.
The arrival of a brand new Summer Punch, consisting of some quintessential flavours synonymous with British summer. The new cocktail is made from Pimm’s, apricot liqueur, cucumber and lemon juice, topped up with ginger ale and served in a hand-cut crystal glass with a cucumber ribbon garnish – a perfect accompaniment when looking for something a little stronger than tea.
Across the weekend guests will also be treated to stunning performances from a live harpist in the Grand Saloon, completing the ultimate Regency Afternoon Tea experience. Performances will take place Friday 12th – Sunday 14th of August from 11am-5pm.
One lucky winner there is also the opportunity to win The Luxury Afternoon Tea experience for them and a guest. Details on how to enter will be released on The Lane’s Instagram 8th August.
For tea super fans, guests are also offered the opportunity to purchase their own set of bespoke fine bone china designed by Kit and Willow Kemp. Named The Mythical Characters, the collection celebrates the rich history of the theatre, with a bespoke tea service fit for royalty. Exclusively created for The Lane, The Mythical Characters that adorn the china and linen table napkins were taken from illustrations of costume designs created for ballets, pantomimes, comic operas and Edwardian musical comedies. For anyone who would like to take a piece of the magic home with them, each item is available to purchase from The Lane’s shop. Guests are encouraged to enquire upon dining.
