New research from Courvoisier, The Most Awarded Cognac House*, unveils a surging trend in Brits crafting home bars as meticulously styled design statements, reflecting a broader trend towards immersive home entertaining.
Over a third (38%) of Brits are sprucing up their homes, aiming for a more inviting atmosphere (47%), to entertain in style (37%), and to embrace their drinks collections as a key part of their décor (31%).
The home bar is having a moment, with 33% now proudly displaying their favourite bottles as part of their home’s style, ditching the old habit of hiding them away.
Stylist and Entertaining Expert, Callie Punchard shares her tips on creating the ultimate at-home cocktail setup that’s both chic and practical.
Courvoisier, the most awarded Cognac house, is highlighting a fun new trend: Brits are reimagining their home bars as stunning design statements.
In fact, over a third (38%) of Brits are looking to elevate their interior spaces, aiming to create a more inviting atmosphere at home (47%), entertain in style (37%), and embrace their drinks collection into their interior design (31%). The survey also reveals the top reasons why Brits love hosting at home: it’s more intimate (24%), they can add their personal touch (15%), and it offers a more authentic experience (13%). Plus 38% say they’re impressed by a stylishly designed bar.
What’s more, 33% of us are now displaying our drinks as a style feature, with drinks trolleys, open shelving, a dedicated home bar area, and custom cocktail stations taking centre stage. This is a big change from the days of hiding bottles in cupboards, with over a fifth (22%) embracing their collections as part of their home’s décor.
It’s not just about having a place to store drinks, either. 30% say their alcohol display is as much about style as it is about function, showing that how it looks is a major factor in today’s home bar design.
Stylist and Entertaining Expert, Callie Punchard, says: “Your home bar should feel like an extension of your hosting style – a space that feels personal, playful, and a little bit indulgent. Whether you’ve got a dedicated drinks trolley, open shelving, or you’re setting up alfresco, it’s all about creating a setting that sparks conversation and looks as good as the cocktails taste. A bottle of Courvoisier adds a touch of sophistication, offering guests a taste of luxury – perfect for moments when you want to impress or simply unwind in style.”
Callie’s Top Tips for Mastering the Art of Hosting at Home:
1. Make It Part of the Room (rather than an afterthought): Your bar set-up should feel like it belongs in your space. Open shelving is a great way to show off beautiful bottles like Courvoisier VSOP and your favourite glassware while keeping everything within easy reach. Style it like you would any shelf in your home – mix in books, candles, or little curiosities to make it feel considered, not cluttered. The amber glow of the VSOP adds a warm, elegant touch to the display.
2. Elevate with Statement Accessories: A moveable drinks trolley is a total game changer – not just practical but a real style moment. Layer it up with vintage bar tools, sculptural ice buckets, or bold cocktail napkins. I love using the curved Courvoisier XO bottle as a centrepiece to instantly anchor the set-up and draw the eye.
3. Create Your Own Cocktail Corner: A dedicated space for mixing drinks adds a little theatre to your hosting. Think of it as your mini cocktail cabinet. Whether it’s a stylish tray or a full collection, curate it with bottles you love, like the Courvoisier XO Royal, and make it feel personal. Guests will love watching you play mixologist, and it creates a natural gathering point.
4. Add Texture: Luxe materials and tactile details elevate your home bar. Marble surfaces, gold accents and rippled glassware add depth and make the whole set-up feel more elevated (plus they’re very in for 2025!). When you’re hosting outside, think linens, textured ceramics, and seasonal florals to complement the alfresco vibe.
5. Highlight Your Favourite Bottles: When your bottles look this good, you want them on full display. Courvoisier VSOP, XO, and XO Royal aren’t just delicious, they’re design details in themselves. Showcasing them proudly as part of your set-up shows you’ve thought about every element of the experience and gives your guests something to admire while they sip.
The news comes as research shows that just under a third (31%) admit they’ve bought a bottle of alcohol specifically because it looked good on display. A stylish presentation is now just as important as taste.
