Gordon Ramsay Wines – The heart and soul if Italian wine-making

Since launching in November 2021, the Gordon Ramsay Wine collection has been awarded several awards including Drinks Business Gold and Decanter World Wine Awards.

Gordon Ramsay collaborated on this project with Alberto Antonini, one of Italy’s greatest winemakers and is extremely proud of what of what has been created and hope food and wine lovers across the world will love it.

Here are the two new additions:

Pinot Grigio, Doc Delle Venezie

Soft yet dry, refreshing on the palate with notes of ripe pear and citrus fruits, characteristic of this grape variety grown on the picturesque hills of northeastern Italy.

Crafted from Pinot Grigio grapes grown in the Colli Berici hills south of Vicenza in the Veneto region of northern Italy, this crisp, fresh wine is the result of selecting the best quality grapes from hillside mature, south-facing vineyards. These grapes were meticulously hand-harvested in late August to early September, ensuring optimal ripeness and flavour concentration.

Whole cluster grapes were crushed and gently pressed. The juice was then allowed to settle and clarify before undergoing cool fermentation at 16°C to 18°C in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks. To enhance complexity and texture, the wine was aged for a period of 3 to 6 months on fine lees in stainless steel tanks before bottling.

Intenso Rosso

The wine has a bright, intense ruby-red colour. On the nose, it shows aromas of fresh red fruit and bright black fruit like blueberry and blackberry along with a touch of flint. On the palate, it is very textural with depth and juiciness, and intense and approachable tannins. The finish is soft and succulent.

A unique cross-regional blend from the rugged coastal region of Abruzzo, famed for its reliability in producing consistent and good quality wines, with Tuscan Sangiovese bringing freshness and depth to the blend. The average vine age is 20 years. The fruit was picked using a combination of machines and hand-picking. The vineyards are mostly planted on limestone soils.

The fruit was destemmed and gently pressed before a 48-hour cold soak at 12°C to extract soft tannins and primary, bright flavours. Fermentation was at 25°C and the cap was continuously pumped over to avoid over-extraction. 20% of the wine spent 9-12 months in 5-year-old large oak casks and the remaining wine was aged in a mixture of concrete and stainless steel tanks.
