Where to take your superyacht this winter
Follow the sunshine to these spectacular warm-weather destinations this winter for weeks of idyllic coastal relaxation while it’s cold back home. All geared up for superyachts with suitable marinas and facilities, these incredible places promise beautiful views, exciting adventures on land and at sea and a temperature climate.
You’ll find yachts for sale close to home or in your chosen destination if you’re yet to invest or ready for an upgrade. Remember to hire the necessary crew for your adventure so you can sit back and relax every step of the way.
You also have the option to charter a vessel in each location and otherwise fly which gives you less flexibility but dramatically cuts down travel time.
Whichever way you invest in your superyacht, these are the five destinations that should top your bucket list for winter sailing vacations.
1. Whitsunday Islands
Just 55km off the coast of Queensland, the Whitsunday Islands – known locally as the ‘Whitsundays’ – are a yachting paradise.
The 74 islands boast opulent hotels and villas if you fancy a stint on-shore, all surrounded by beaches where finding privacy is not a problem. Further out to sea is the spectacular Great Barrier Reef, so as you can imagine snorkelling and scuba diving in the Whitsundays is extraordinary. Swim with rare marine turtles and take a helicopter tour of Heart Reef.
2. The Grenadines
Experience a different side of the Caribbean when you sail the Grenadines, a string of remote islands west of Barbados culturally connected to St Vincent.
Best accessed and explored by sea, these unspoiled spots seem to exist outside of time and enable you to embrace the vivid colours of the Caribbean undisturbed. White sand bays lapped by azure ocean end abruptly, leading to lush mountainous interiors that provide a dramatic backdrop for walks, and the volcanic peaks are complemented by the unique black coral reefs.
3. Mexico
Head north from the Grenadines to Mexico for a few weeks in a contrastingly lively atmosphere. Vibrant festivals are held throughout the season each year, from the Day of the Dead to Las Posadas on 16th December which kicks off the Christmas celebrations, and the towns, cities and beach resorts burst with life. You can also journey to Mayan ruins through tropical forests.
There are plenty of stunning beaches and spas where you can unwind. When you’re at sea, seek out the extraordinary creatures that roam Mexico’s shores such as seals, sharks and whales.
4. The Seychelles
Celebrate tropical scenery in style in Seychelles, a sought-after honeymoon destination praised for its beauty, blissful atmosphere and world-class resorts with unrivalled facilities.
There are over 100 islands to discover, all surrounded by the sapphire Indian Ocean with blistering beaches, gentle greenery and towns grounded in fascinating heritage. Enjoy the freedom to anchor and explore as you like, watching the incredible sunsets and indulging in exclusive experiences from fine dining at Relais & Châteaux restaurants to swimming with elusive whale sharks.
