What inspired you to focus on bespoke travel and adventure experiences, and how did you develop the unique approach that Nomad Inc. is known for?
I had a deep love for exploration and a strong desire to share my experiences with the world. Whenever we discuss what makes us unique in our industry, we always come back to the term “authentic”. Our approach involves taking the time to thoroughly understand our clients, so that we can plan their experiences as if we were them, immersing ourselves in every aspect of their journey.
How do you ensure that each travel itinerary you create offers your clients an authentic and truly unique experience?
From the outset, we engage in close collaboration with each of our clients, ensuring they gain a comprehensive understanding of our operations and methodologies. Our services cater to a discerning clientele, where our success hinges on the power of word-of-mouth and delivering exceptional experiences. Our relentless pursuit of surpassing our guests’ expectations takes us on a global quest for excellence.
Can you share an example of one of the most challenging bespoke adventures you’ve organised for a client and how you overcame any obstacles?
One of the most demanding itineraries we organized involved creating a bespoke adventure for a group of four close friends fulfilling their dream an Alaskan expedition. Our tailored package included a range of premium experiences, such as helicopter excursions, exclusive yacht charters, stays on private islands, private chef services, dog sledding, fishing, whale watching, float planes, trains, jet boats, and a landing and stay on a Denali Glacier.
The complexity arose from our goal to provide luxury in a destination where upscale accommodations and experiences are generally sparse. Additionally, the ever-changing Alaskan weather added an extra layer of intricacy to our logistical planning. Considering that our guests were in their seventies, ensuring their safety in this remote environment was our top priority.
Despite these challenges, we were able to deliver a remarkable and secure experience for our guests. The success of the trip forged a lasting bond, transforming our guests into cherished friends, and leaving them with unforgettable memories of their exclusive Alaskan escapade.
How does Nomad Inc. identify and partner with local guides and unique accommodations to enhance the authenticity of your client’s experiences?
Selecting suitable partners is a straightforward process for us. Given our extensive travel experiences, we consistently assess potential partnerships by pondering, “Is this an experience we would enjoy and in this fashion?” This criterion heavily influences our decision-making across the board.
What trends do you see in the adventure travel industry, and how is Nomad Inc. adapting to meet these evolving demands?
The prevailing pattern observed among our clientele indicates a cohort of individuals seeking a distinct experience without the burden of personal research and itinerary planning. Their preference is for unique experiences removed from crowded settings, ensuring alignment with their expectations. A considerable proportion of our clientele, engrossed in their professional commitments, remarkably benefit from guidance on prudent utilization of their earnings.
How do you balance client expectations with the unpredictable nature of authentic adventure travel?
From the outset, it is important to emphasize that we are unable to control the weather particularly when it comes to heli-skiing and surf experiences. Nevertheless, we exert every effort to ensure an enjoyable experience for our guests. Those who have spent time with us readily recognize this commitment, as evidenced by the extensive list of returning guests.
It’s not about the money. It’s when a guest pulls me aside and tells me this was more than just a trip for them. That’s when I know we have accomplished what we set out to achieve.
Can you describe a time when Nomad Inc. discovered a hidden gem destination or activity that significantly enhanced a client’s itinerary?
Flow state is considered the optimal state of human consciousness. It refers to moments of complete absorption, where you become so focused on the task at hand that everything else fades away. Action and awareness become one, and self-consciousness disappears. Distractions and self-doubts are set aside. This is what we are sharing with our clients. When they experience their first perfect wave, and then kick out the back, they are simply gazing at you with a look of joy and disbelief. When they shred perfect powder, we are hooting it up, all that’s left to do is hug and race back to the top for another lap.
What role does sustainability play in the travel experiences you design, and how do you ensure that your adventures have a positive impact on local communities?
Our business model has consistently prioritized the engagement of local guides and the patronage of locally owned enterprises across all operational realms. This approach not only cultivates sustainable revenue streams within local communities but also enriches the experiences of our clientele with authentic, region-specific encounters.
How does your extensive network of industry leaders contribute to creating your custom itineraries, and how do you maintain these relationships?
We proactively seek partnerships with companies that align with our vision and ethical standards. Our process involves meticulous research followed by outreach. Subsequently, we assess the compatibility of our values through meaningful conversations, allowing us to swiftly ascertain mutual suitability.
What advice would you give to travellers seeking authentic adventure experiences but unsure where to start planning their journey?
Other than first contacting us, I advise to refrain from visiting crowded and popular locations. Over the past decade, these areas have experienced an overwhelming influx of visitors, resulting in the loss of their distinctiveness. Instead, I recommend arranging intimate excursions with friends and family, thereby facilitating genuine connections. Ultimately, the essence of these experiences lies in fostering meaningful connections.
