Ocean Independence Spain present Milele – Extraordinary Eye-catcher

MILELE, one of the most exciting 45-metre yachts, stole the show at Monaco. Ocean Independence sold the spectacular project and is now managing MILELE.

MILELE (ex-Project Adur) is a 45m world-cruising, fast aluminum motor yacht, with naval architecture from Van Oossanen guaranteeing good sea keeping qualities as well as speed and range. Exterior design is from OMEGA and the owner, interior design from the owner and Martin Hanff. She made her worldwide debut to the public at the Monaco Yacht Show, being considered one of the showstoppers at this prestigious event as she combines such a variety of features never been seen before in a yacht of this size.

MILELE’s clear and clean lines result in a sturdy and masculine exterior profile. The owner has been heavily involved in fine-tuning the lines of the exterior design and some of the innovative details introduced by him include scooped bulwarks offering clear views, custom designed stainless hand rails and specific deck furniture designs for each deck. Likewise, the rub rail has been removed to achieve a clean ‘shaved’ bulwark.

Below the waterline, Van Oossanen’s patented Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF) is combined with the Hull Vane®, an ‘underwater-spoiler’ placed below in the stern. As result of this, fuel consumption and ship motions are reduced by an average of 20 to 25%, effecting significantly improved onboard comfort.

On MILELE this hull vane has been executed in carbon to save weight, for the first time ever. With these hull features, her two 2580 kW MTUs (type12V 4000 M93L) diesel engines plus two electric booster engines, MILELE is faster than most yachts of her size and can reach an impressive speed of 25.5 knots. Yet, at a steady cruising speed of 12 knots, she has transatlantic capability with a range of 3800 nautical miles. MILELE also benefits from an electric-only drive mode, allowing her owners to visit sensitive ecological areas where the dynamic positioning system allows avoiding the use of anchors.

On board, her spacious accommodation includes an owner’s suite on the main deck, complete with private office, and 3 guest staterooms on the lower deck. The main salon shows two separate areas – lounge and dining area – which connected by the “wine cellar” in the middle. Here, exquisitely crafted sideboards on the port and starboard sides hold fine wines behind glass doors. One deck above, the sky lounge shows a cozy TV nook on starboard and a dining or game table to port. From here, owners and guests also have direct access to the al fresco area of the bridge deck aft. The furniture design by the owner is highly innovative yet welcoming and elegant. Leather, regular as well as bird’s eye elm are the main materials on board.

Outdoor space on MILELE is ample, be it in the well-protected foredeck lounge area, on the sun deck or on the bridge and main decks. For those looking for action, a gym offers guests the opportunity to work out, whilst in addition to standard toys (Seabobs, Electric Jet Ski, Electric Tender) a 2-person submarine is available to explore the underwater world until a depth of 100 metres. Both, the Captain and the Chief, have the appropriate licence to drive the submarine. It is stored below a huge hatch forward and launched by a crane. If the hatch is opened completely, it can convert into an outdoor cinema screen by night.

The construction of the yacht was successfully supervised by Zucker + Partner from Hamburg and the operational management lies with the experienced team of Ocean Independence. Peter Hürzeler, CEO of Ocean Independence, sold the project and comments on the delivery as follows: “Without doubt MILELE is one of the most exciting yachts built in the last years. At the Monaco Yacht Show she attracted a lot of visitors who gave enthusiastic feedback to a degree I have not experienced before. MILELE’s style, technical features and elegant beauty clearly make her stand out. It’s wonderful when visionary owners turn their ideas into reality.”
