If you are looking for a staycation situated in a great little hotel set in the heart of the historic market town of Llandeilo, The Cawdor is the hotel for you!

Llandeilo is a little market town to the east of Carmarthen. As you approach the River Tywi and the Llandeilo stone bridge (built-in 1848), you will see the multi-coloured Edwardian and Georgian houses that line the street on the entrance to the town.

The Cawdor is thrilled to be named in the ‘Sunday Times Travel’ in the top 100 best hotels in Britain. As you approach The Cawdor, it’s hard to miss the bright red exterior of this 18th-century hotel in the market town of Llandeilo.

Upon arrival at The Cawdor, you instantly see a mix of old-world charm and modern comforts. From inviting sofas to an open fire, you get the perfect mix of both. It’s such an inviting feeling! Leather sofas and vintage photographs documenting the hotel’s heritage are found in the bar along with friendly staff who are never far away to help.

Parking is included during your stay at The Cawdor and can be found at the back of the hotel. This is a lovely add-on during the stay as Llandelio can be a struggle for parking so it makes the world of difference choosing a hotel with parking facilities.

Every bedroom is individually furnished and provides relaxation and comfort for a great night’s sleep. The beds had Crisp white Egyptian cotton bedding which was perfect for a great night’s sleep. The bathroom was a huge ‘wow’ statement – there is nothing better than a big bathroom with plenty of space. It had a lovely-sized bathtub, sink and shower.

Of course, you get free Wi-Fi along with tea and coffee-making facilities to enjoy in your room and fresh cold water that is replaced daily by housekeeping. This was a lovely addition as during my visit the weather was quite warm and there is nothing like cold water to quench your thirst!

The Cawdor holds 24 very comfortable rooms in total and 2 penthouse apartments if you need extra space for a getaway with family or friends. This is the perfect option for Christmas to have a family get-together.

The dining at The Cawdor was such an amazing experience. The food is, wherever possible, Welsh and in season. You can enjoy food in the dining room, bar, Cegin café or outside in the courtyard depending on your choice of ambience and the weather! I loved the flexibility in where you choose to dine – I was lucky to experience both the restaurant and the bar. Both had such a lovely vibe and equally a great dining experience.

The bar was more casual dining – toasties, sandwiches and light lunch bites whereas the dining room had a more extensive menu choice featuring fish and chips, burgers and a yummy chicken Caesar salad. The chicken burger was cooked to perfection along with the warm brownie and ice cream. The staff went the extra mile to make sure the dining experience was a memorable one.

Overall, The Cawdor makes the perfect stay for anyone looking for a unique and local getaway in the heart of Llandelio. The mix of antique and modern style along with the incredible dining is something I will remember from this hotel.
