For a fabulous meal in a breathtaking setting, why not visit The Orangery restaurant at the historical Blenheim Palace in Woodstock, Oxfordshire? Home of the Dukes of Marlborough and birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill, the World Heritage site is the only non-royal home in England to be given the title of the palace and welcomes visitors from across the globe. Still, the home of the current 12th Duke and Duchess of Marlborough the palace has opened its doors and gardens and has a number of things to see and do on offer. Boasting a number of cafes and restaurants, we were spoiled for choice.

The Orangery Restaurant by Searcys of London is situated in the East Courtyard and overlooks the stunning Italian Garden at the palace. After the short walk from the car park, we decided this was the perfect setting for a Sunday lunch. Upon arrival, the courteous staff welcomed us into the Orangery with its spectacular architecture and palatial ambiance. We were seated by the window overlooking the gardens in a light and airy room which was fully air-conditioned and decorated to perfection. All of the staff were attentive and polite and made our visit all the more enjoyable.

We were surrounded by other guests enjoying a decadent afternoon tea as well as roast dinners and options from their grill. To start our Sunday lunch we ordered the soup of the day which arrived with warm bread and flavoured butter, and the ham hock which was served with a salad of apples grown in the estate orchard in a delicious estate honey dressing. After enjoying our beautiful starters, we both opted for a roast. The local roast Cotswold sirloin of beef was perfectly cooked to my liking and the chicken with stuffing was moist and flavoursome. The roast comes with all the usual trimmings and rich gravy, and we also ordered a generous side of cauliflower cheese. The portions were excellent and the tasty food was well worth the extremely reasonable price. For our dessert, we chose the chocolate tart which was accompanied by the most incredible strawberry and Champagne sorbet. Delicious!

My husband, a red wine drinker enjoyed a glass of Shiraz whilst I treated myself to a glass of the Searcys House Brut Cuvee Champagne which was arrived perfectly chilled and bubbly. The Champagne was served in a stunning flute which I was delighted to discover was available to purchase along with the Champagne on the Searcys of London Website. You can also purchase gift cards to give to your loved ones, so they too can experience the beautiful Orangery Restaurant at Blenheim. Of course, I had to finish this wonderful meal off with a Baileys before taking in one last look at our surroundings and heading home with very full bellies. All in all, The Orangery Restaurant by Searcys of London at Blenheim Palace did not disappoint.
