Collectivino – Exquisite, ethical, climate-positive wines
New Curated Wine Specialist ‘Collectivino’ Uncorks Sustainable Drinking at Home.
Collectivino, specialists in sourcing high-quality sustainable wines from independent artisanal vineyards, has officially launched this month offering ethically minded wine drinkers the opportunity to ‘drink more responsibly’ through a carefully curated range of exceptional quality wines which won’t cost the earth.
A report commissioned by the World of Wine in July 2021 found the UK consumed 1,770 million bottles of wine during 2020 equating to nearly 32 bottles per year for the average UK adult. Consumption of those 1,770 million bottles had an impact of nearly 4 billion tonnes of carbon*, the equivalent of running 1.6 million average cars for a year and 2.4 million transatlantic flights.
Collectivino aims to tackle this by working with independent artisanal vineyards who tread more lightly and who create exceptional wines while considering all aspects of sustainability from the biodiversity of their land to the climate impacts of their production and distribution. For example, by switching to organic production, the carbon impact of wine can be reduced by between 10%-15%. As such, most of the wines on offer from Collectivino follow organic practices and are naturally low in sulphites, while many bottles are certified Organic, Biodynamic and/or Vegan.
To celebrate Collectivino’s launch this month and for a chance to put the range of exquisite ethical wines to the taste test, Collectivino is offering £50 off the first two orders of a Discovery Case to the first 100 new customers to sign up.
Offer is available until 23:59 on 31 October 2021. Further details are available here
Collectivino rates each vineyard on a range of sustainability factors. The company also assesses other impacts across the supply chain from bottling to importing, and packaging to home delivery. Zero Carbon delivery methods such as bicycle couriers are used in Central London, and national deliveries are carbon neutral. Collectivino calculates the carbon impact of its wines – from grape to glass – and off-sets any residual CO2e impact using VCS Gold Standard reforestation schemes, so every bottle they deliver is climate positive.
Founded by best friends Martin Stead and Toby Radcliffe, who have enjoyed drinking wine together since they met at university over 20 years ago, Collectivino aims to get the nation drinking better wine – better for the consumer, better for the producer, and better for the planet. Piloted over the summer with a number of “Beta Tasters”, Collectivino has been growing fast through word of mouth. 90% of Beta Tasters surveyed say that they’re delighted with the quality of the wines they’ve tried, with 100% of the wines being rated 7 or above out of 10, and 35% of wines scoring 10/10. All Beta Tasters are planning to place repeat orders and are willing to recommend Collectivino to others.
Wine lovers can stay stocked up with sustainable wines from outstanding independent vineyards through Collectivino’s wine club, The Collective, with a curated case of 12 exquisite wines delivered on a bi-monthly or quarterly basis. Members are offered access to private tasting events, private tours at selected sustainable vineyards and priority access to limited- availability small-batch wines. A membership subscription to The Collective costs £199 per delivery. Collectivino also offers a range of gifting items – a great way to send a gift with positive values as we move towards the festive holiday season.
Martin Stead, Co-Founder of Collectivino said, “One day in 2020 while enjoying a glass of red together over a lockdown zoom call, Toby and I realised there were two issues for wine enthusiasts like us. Namely, it often seemed like potluck as to whether we’d choose an outstanding, average or downright disappointing wine; and it was way too difficult to work out and minimise the environmental impact of the wines we were choosing. So, we decided to do something about it and created Collectivino to provide wine lovers with exceptional quality wines that are produced and distributed responsibly, at an accessible price.”
Toby Radcliffe, Co-Founder of Collectivino added, “As individuals we choose what we consume and should be aware of the impacts those choices have on the world around us. But those choices don’t have to be compromises in quality. You can enjoy great quality wine and minimise it’s carbon impact, through Collectivino.”
