Borne out of a contemporary and creatively agile mindset, Blanc by Jou is a predominantly white and exclusive couture collection for women that speaks intimately to one’s status and personality, guaranteeing a look that makes you the cynosure at any event or gathering. Blanc (the French word for white) is a predominantly white clothing line founded in 2018 by Georgette Jou, a Ghanaian entrepreneur and fashion powerhouse with a refreshingly unorthodox dress-sense.

Drawing and sewing fashion patterns from an early age, Jou later veered into Accounting and Human Resources, getting sucked into the corporate world in the UK, where she worked away in the healthcare sector before later joining a project management team. Her sense of fashion was, however, always evident in her dress-sense. She became the unofficial fashion consultant for many who wished to stand out at grand events and special occasions.

“Haunted” by her first and true love, “Fashion”, Jou eventually took on her dream career and subsequently enrolled at the London School of Fashion where she refined her skillset in fashion design, visual merchandising, textiles, production, and entrepreneurship. She also took a keener interest in contemporary fashion trends across the continent and beyond.

Influenced by her African roots, yet inspired by diverse cultures, Jou brings life and a special story to every design she creates. Over the last three years, she has set out to create a high-end fashion brand for special occasions; those ones you cannot afford to miss or be missed in the crowd.

But, why white? Blanc by Jou thrives off of perfection, and white represents just that. White, or “Blanc” in French, often depicts a blank slate, symbolizing a beginning or a clean fresh start.

In this same vein, the brand approaches each design on a blank slate, marking the beginning of a show-stopping masterpiece.

To breathe life into her designs, Jou selects luxurious fabrics and meticulously accounts for each detail as she makes dresses that are flattering, customizable, and complimentary for all shapes and sizes.
