Everyone is familiar with BMW’s X5, its impeccable design and sheer capabilities have labelled it as a luxury SUV and with improvements made to each generation, the X5 remains a top-selling car.

This year, however, BMW has released for the first time in Egypt, the BMW X5 M50i model. This new model was labelled as an SAV (Sports Activity Vehicle) rather than an SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) with an intention to reflect the Vehicle’s on-road and off-road capabilities.

Similar to the BMW M850i, the new model has an N63, 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine. And while it has a horsepower of 523, that is 77 lower than the BMW M5’s horsepower, it still gives you the same amount of torque, a 553 lb-ft that allows the car to go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 4.1 seconds.

That’s about as fast as an F80 BMW M3. It can be very tempting to go fast with all this power, but not highly recommended on winding roads nonetheless.

With M sport brakes and an M sport differential, the car gives you optimum control over the wheels and maximum performance. The front and rear suspension setups have been thoroughly revised by the M Division, so it is unquestionable that it is going to be the best handling and driving X5 yet, that is until the upcoming X5 M model comes out of course.

The X5 M50i might not be the most ideal M car, but it certainly comes very close to it.
